Medication Management

Low Country Counseling provides Psychiatric Evaluations and Medication Management for children and adults. We offer support for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, postpartum concerns, consultation for ADHD, and other emotional or behavioral challenges.

We are a recovery-oriented practice with a specialization in Substance Use Disorders. Our clinicians are mindful of dual diagnosis—when a person has both a mental health condition (e.g., anxiety, bipolar disorder, panic) and a substance use disorder (e.g., alcohol use disorder). We use best practices to support recovery and promote safe, effective treatment.

Intake appointments occur prior to a Psychiatric Evaluation to screen for risk factors such as substance use, eating disorders, self-harm, and developmental concerns in children, as well as postpartum anxiety/depression or psychosis. Screening is conducted by our Clinical Director to support optimal mental health and safety. Referrals are provided for anyone who may need more clinical support than we can safely provide in our outpatient setting.

Psychiatric care works best in conjunction with counseling and can optimize coping skills, stabilization, and emotional work done in therapy sessions.

Psychiatry Service Policies For Your Consideration:

1- Low Country Counseling DOES NOT provide prescriptions for controlled substances due to GA prescribing laws. For patients with ADHD, our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with your Primary Care Doctor or Pediatrician for these medications. Please make sure your doctor will prescribe controlled substances prior to scheduling an appointment for ADHD evaluation and treatment.

2- Psychiatric Services are Self-Pay Only. (Some Insurance benefits do cover Therapy/Counseling Services).

3- We do not provide Emergency Services. If you are in crisis, feel unsafe, or cannot keep yourself from self-harm or from hurting someone else, contact through this platform is NOT a safe option for urgent care. Instead, do at least one of the following actions immediately for free, confidential, and 24/7 crisis support:
